This morning my alarm went off at 4:30 am. I groaned. I actually groaned and rolled over! Even though I knew I was heading to Italy today, 4:30 is still 4:30 – WAY too early.
I had some coffee, showered, and kissed my kids goodbye (although they were sleeping…) and my lovely husband got up early to drive me to the airport while my lovely mother came at 5:30 to get the kids to school and Maddie to daycare!
So…my flight from Milwaukee to Chicago was uneventful and smooth. I sat next to a member of the Air Force and of course thanked him for serving our Country. Takes some serious courage to be in the military today, and he’s been in the Air Force for 20 years.
I met a nice crew at the Sunglass Hut in O’Hare – Eric and Ariel (yes, like the mermaid!) I posted a picture of them…and yes, we picked out sunglasses that make them look like bugs. Ok, maybe they don’t look like bugs, but it was silly anyway! (It’s the little things to amuse myself that gets me through a 6 hour layover!)
The first picture is from our ride to Milwaukee to the airport. It was really foggy, and the sun was coming up, and if you look closely in the picture, you can see the moon by the tree on the right side of the picture!
I’m sitting on the floor at the airport with my laptop plugged in-only 1 hour and 7 minutes till my flight starts boarding! I am exhausted – with 9 1/2 hours in the air, hopefully I can get some sleep!
I miss my family already though – I know I will have a fun time in Italy but it’s amazing how much a girl can miss her hubby and kids (and dog and guinea pig…) in a matter of hours! I think it’s because I know I won’t see them till next Saturday! Can’t wait to Face Time with them!
For now…I have a couple of pictures…I will try my best to post some Italy pictures as I go – I believe the hotels we are staying at all have WiFi. So…away I go!
